Pianist, composer and publisher Bill King created the National Jazz Awards Canada in an effort to recognize outstanding achievements in Canadian jazz. "While Canadian jazz artists are celebrated internationally, it is equally important to recognize them at home," says Bill King. Winners will be announced at the awards show at The Old Mill Inn on Monday April 10th. You can find more info on the show and purchasing tickets by clicking here: www.nationaljazzawards.com

Back in the studio... Dione is going back into the studio with producers Doug Riley and Sandy Mamane in the next few weeks to put the final touches to her sophomore CD set for release on June 14th, 2006. Watch out for special guest appearances and beautiful compositional contributions and collaborations on this next musical offering.

The Regina Jazz Society is excited about the release of "The Jazz Province: A History of Jazz in Saskatchewan" by prominent Saskatchewan author, playwright and Order of Canada inductee Ken Mitchell.

"The Jazz Province: A History of Jazz in Saskatchewan" is a project which celebrates the rich, vibrant history of Jazz in Saskatchewan as part of the province's ongoing Centennial Celebrations.

"The Lieutenant Governor's Centennial Gala, broadcast across Canada via CBC TV in May 2005, featured an astonishing array of the province's musical talent, including Regina- schooled guitarists Jack Semple and Colin James. And a new star was introduced that night: Dione Taylor. Her television debut was nothing short of stunning-enhanced by her placement among popular Saskatchewan stars like Buffy Sainte Marie, Colin James, Connie Kaldor, Brent Butt, Andrea Menard, Hart Rouge and Joni Mitchell."
~ Ken Mitchell. The Jazz Province: A History of Jazz in Saskatchewan. Regina Jazz Society.

JAZZ.FM91 will be in their spring Fundraising Drive from April 28th - May 7th, 2006 and Dione Taylor will be there to show support for Canada's Premier Jazz Station.
